The pictures speak for themselves

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving; a small family gathering in upstate New York, filled with warmth and hugs and lots of good food. My taste was off, but it was still delicious! And it was a rare opportunity to enjoy both daughters at the same place and time.

I am thankful for the opportunity to go natural....

Kudos for being you! I scrolled back and forth through the pictures several times and I have to say that the most striking thing to me has nothing to do with your hair. You and your daughter (your right, our left) look soooooooo much alike!!

Thanks Cathy.

Yes, Rachel and I do look alike, but we also have the same coloring, which makes it that much more evident. In actuality, I've always thought Carla, my younger daughter, also looks a lot like me. But her coloring is dark, like her father, so that's what you tend to see first. It accents the contrasts instead of showing off the similarity of features.

You don't need the wig. You look fabulous "au naturel"!

It was great to see you in NYC.

I'm so glad we had the opportunity to get together too! Such serendipity.

Thanks for the compliment. It's not much hair, but it makes me feel like a real human being. :) Unfortunately, I'm on schedule to lose it again in about another week.

Beautiful family!

Thanks Russ. We've talked about family before, so I know you feel similarly about your own daughters: these two young women are the joy of my life, and my greatest accomplishment.

My first thought was the same as Cathy's: how much Rachel and you look alike.

I think you look great without the wig!

Ceil, I know exactly what you mean about the coloring distracting from the similarities. My mother and I look very much alike .. except I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin ... she has brown hair, dark eyes, and dark/olive skin. But if you look at the shape and frame of our bodies and the shapes and features in our faces .. we look very much alike.

My first reaction, too. If I saw Rachel on the street, I'd know she was yours.

Now Doug, it was you I was counting on to tell me I look old with white hair. :)

I guess it's unanimous though. Even I was struck by how much Rachel looks like me in those pictures.

Funny this is the hair wasn't the first thing I noticed. I noticed the smiles first. What a great big bunch of happy!

That white hair may surprise you. A woman who works in my building has just recently stopped wearing scarves because enough of it came back. She said it was initially white, but gradually returned to a shade that's actually better than it was before.

I've heard other stories like that. It strikes me that it's a little like being a baby who may start with a head of hair one color that turns several others before it settles in.

It's too short to tell now, but I'm hoping for curly. :)
